Welcome to the Shamanic Arts Studio Dear Patrons, Friends and Browsers, I have reached the mythical "three score and ten" years in my life, time for me to make some big changes. After much thought and meditation, I have decided to focus on making the drums and rattles I have always wanted to make; all the ones that are painted and decorated with stones, bones, fur, shells, etc. My dreams are full of drums and other ritual items I have to make, and now is the time to make them. I will discontinue making unpainted drums and rattles. These changes in my focus necessitate substantial revisions to this website. During this time, the following guidelines apply. 1. All items are subject to prior sale. 2. To order, email me and we will set shipping costs and arrange for shipping. 3. No special orders or commissions. 4. Bear Claw Drum with Sterling Silver Conchos. 17" diameter x3" deep, white cedar frame. Elk rawhide. Mallet handle of wild crafted chokecherry wood. Elk leather fittings. A similar drum can be made for $650. It can also be ordered in bear hide and with turquoises mounted on the conchos for $950. |

“Some Horses Are Coming” 17" diameter x 3" deep horsehide shaman drum with white cedar frame. Deer leather fittings. Mallet handle is wild crafted chokecherry. A similar hand painted drum can be made for $400 in 17” diameter horsehide.
Bear Paw Medicine Drum
Nine Inch Diameter (plus fur) x 1 1/2" wide. Double
headed. Bear rawhide over birchwood frame. The
handle is hand braided bear leather, the fur is genuine bear
fur. The two bear paw designs are full sized outlines of a
Grizzly Bear paw.
Inside the drum are hand collected quartz anthill pebbles.
Anthill pebbles are used because the ants are familiar with the
lower world.
A similar Medicine Drum can be special ordered for $265. |

Sami Style Divination Drum Painted divination drum with runes, elk hide, 12 ¾” wide x14 ¼” high x 4 ½” deep hard maple bowl. Traditional deer horn mallet, brass divination ring. Can be special ordered for $475.

Painted Oval
Divination Drum, Sami style Elk hide, 12” wide x 16” high x 3” deep birch plywood frame, includes a traditional mallet, a divination ring, an interpretation of symbols and instruction on divination method. This is a very special drum and cannot be duplicated, but a similar drum may be made to order for $500.

Painted 15"
Shaman Drum Elk hide, 15” diameter x 5/8” deep. This custom drum displays a variant of the Whirlwinds design, depicting the four directions with corresponding colors. The Whirlwinds design is symbolic of the winds of change. |
 Nearly every element of this drum is symbolic in some way. |
Siberian Style Shaman Drum Very large, 20" wide x 24"high x 4" deep. Made in the traditional horsehide. The handle shows the drum spirit in mahogany with hand wrought copper and iron, deer and elk leather fittings, and beadwork. The mallet with jinglers is also traditional. A similar piece to this very special drum can be made for $2500. |

Painted Medicine Drum A medicine drum is a small two headed drum which can be used both as a rattle and a drum. It is used for healing work. An ancient Mississippian rattlesnake design ca. 1,000 AD. Circles painted on the back create a map of the Universe. Made of elk hide, it is 8" in diameter x 1¼” wide. A similar drum can be special ordered for $300. |

Peyote Style Rattle River gravel inside, fancy knot work and woven leather wrapped handle. 13" high with 2 1/2" diameter gourd. A similar rattle can be special ordered for about $200. |

Shaman’s Staff Four feet high with five rows of deer toes, solid cast sterling silver flicker head on top with leather falcon type hood and hand done fancy knot work on the leather. Mahogany and driftwood stand. Limited edition, one more can be made for $1700. |
 Inside: gravel from anthills, turquoise, Apache tears inside. Soft, rain sound. Ants are excellent guides to the Lower World. Turquoise is considered to be a piece of the sky and therefore helpful in the Upper World. Apache tears are from the Middle World, Earth. Obsidian drops are created during volcanic eruptions. |

"Spirit Hands" Elk Raw Hide Rattle Hand painted elk rawhide rattle, 4 1/2 diameter x 11" long. Elk leather fittings, with "Turk's head" knot on rattle and on fringe. This knot appears endless and is a reminder of the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of life. The handle is wild crafted chokecherry wood with the bark on. The bark will eventually turn a deep, rich purplish brown. This rattle was commissioned to accompany a version of the "lightning hands" drum above. |

Dance Stick/Rattle Lightning Design with Deer Toe Rattles 24" long x 5" high x 3/4" wide. Mahogany wood with Tung Oil finish. In addition to deer toes it has a number of brass hawk bells (used in Falconry). There is also Buffalo fur and leather, turquoise stones, feather "fluffies" and pieces of lightning wood gathered from a lightning-struck tree. |
