Welcome to the Shamanic Arts Studio

Dear Patrons, Friends and Browsers,

I have reached the mythical "three score and ten" years in my life, time for me to make some big changes.  After much thought and meditation, I have decided to focus on making the drums and rattles I have always wanted to make; all the ones that are painted and decorated with stones, bones, fur, shells, et al. My dreams are full of drums and other ritual items I have to make, and now is the time to make them.  I will discontinue making unpainted drums and rattles.

These changes in my focus necessitate substantial revisions to this website.  During this time, the following guidelines apply.

1.  All items are subject to prior sale.

2.  To order, email me and we will set shipping costs and arrange for shipping.

3.  No special orders or commissions.

4.  If you desire unpainted drums please contact my esteemed colleague Steven Kauder at www.beardrum.com.

5.  I accept payments via PayPal, but please check with me first.

6.  International sales are temporarily suspended.

Thank You,

Terry Keepers, Artisan

Drums

SINGLE-HEADED SHAMAN DRUMS

The typical drum from the Shamanic Arts Studio is a single headed drum.  Single-Head Shaman Drums are available in three sizes: 18", 15", and 13" diameter. The rawhide is stretched over a white cedar or maple wood frame about three inches deep.

Detail of 18", 15", and 13" diameters

They are available in buffalo, bear, elk, horse, and reindeer hide and in three different styles of binding, and typically have decorative fittings on the handle and mallet.  The mallet handle is made of wild chokecherry wood that I harvest along creek beds.  The handle of the drum and the mallet fringes are deer, elk, bear, reindeer or buffalo leather.

These drums have painted designs.  Each design is a Mandala that can be used for meditation and journeying.  If you are looking for an unpainted drum, please contact my esteemed colleague Steven Kauder at http://beardrum.com.
